What do our customers usually want to know?

13th July 2023

We believe that PORTEUS pods truly have it all: freedom of design, unrivalled install efficiency, exemplary finish – we could go on! However, if you’ve not come across bathroom pods before, it’s understandable that you may have some questions around how the pods work, and why they are such an improvement upon ‘regular’ bathroom installations. This week, we speak to one of our Pod Specialists about some of the most frequently asked questions, to help you get to know our product that little bit better.

How does a bathroom pod work?

Our pods are essentially fully prefabricated bathrooms – from flooring, ceilings, tiling, plumbing and sanitaryware – all enclosed within a steel frame to ensure the structure is not damaged in transportation or installation. Each pod is designed to a plug and play system, giving an efficient installation process on site. Whilst manufactured off-site, we still work with the customer’s design team to achieve a pod that is easily installed and brings the client’s ideas to life.

Does this mean that there’s only a limited range of designs to choose from?

No- we are proud to offer our customers control over the design of their pods, and our expert team is here to support every step of the way. We work alongside the customer’s design team to ensure that their requirements are met.

Does prefabrication impact the quality of finish?

We firmly believe that prefabrication allows us far more quality control than ‘regular’ on-site bathroom installations. Prefabrication means that we create your pods off-site to ensure each pod is finished to the highest of standards – meaning no rushed contractors, no cut corners, and none of the issues rising from overlapping trades working in small spaces that can come with standard multi-trade bathroom installs. Each pod is quality assured checked at various stages of the manufacturing process of the pod, we follow-work to ISO9001-2015 standard

What types of projects do PORTEUS pods work well on?

Our pods can be installed in both existing builds and new-build projects – especially those where quality and consistency is paramount, such as hotels, residential apartment blocks, healthcare settings and modern student accommodation.

Why should I choose pods over ‘regular’ bathroom installations?

Well, aside from the ultimate quality control and superior finish that prefabrication allows, a key reason our customers report choosing our bathroom pods is the cost and programme certainty. The price agreed at tender stage will be the final price, with none of the nasty surprises that can come with the itemised approach of ‘regular’ installs. Our streamlined manufacturing process reduces the amount of tradesmen on-site, eliminates unexpected costs such as those associated with programme delays arising from defects and snagging. Our pods optimise and de-risk construction programmes, and our off-site production and scheduling means that you know exactly when each pod will be delivered, without any additional headaches of logistics; giving you the peace of mind that your programme is always on track.

I can see you’re based in Ireland; can you supply your pods further afield?

Our pods have travelled further than Ireland- we’ve worked on multiple projects across the entire UK. You might like to explore our Case Studies to see what types of projects we’ve worked on, in different locations.

Why should I choose PORTEUS to provide my pods?

Both we and our customers believe PORTEUS simply offer some of the best pods on the market, designed and developed by an expert team that really understands construction and the many challenges that are associated with ‘regular’ bathrooms and their associated componentry challenges. We’ve been growing rapidly as a company since we were established in 2017 and we’re proud of our friendly, highly skilled team. Throughout the whole design process, we will collaborate with its design team to produce a bathroom that meets or exceeds their requirements.
